US Springfield National Match 1954 Type 1, M-1 Garand
The National Match, M-1 Garand was manufactured in 4-54. It has all the transitional improvements of the Type II, through 1960. It is in as NEW condition. Perfect matching wood with the last four numbers of the serial number in the barrel channel. The wood has the P proof and the match Eagle on the left side. The trigger group has the last four numbers of the serial number on the front housing. All metal parts are Springfield and retain 99.9% original finish. The following parts are marked “NM”: gas cylinder, rear sight base, front sight, aperture, windage knob and barrel. The stock is glass bedded. The operating rod is not marked NM, which is correct before 1960. The sight aperture is not the hooded type, which is correct before 1960. The barrel is dated 4-54, but it has the Greek Cross mark, the T denoting target and the P proof indicating proof fired. The bore is perfect! This is as good as they come.
