English Sergeants Rifle, Marked W. Greener, 577 Cal. Percussion

This is a presentation piece from an 1861 Target Shoot. It has a silver medallion which says “1st Prize Presented by Capt. Compan to N3 Comp. LSVR. Won by Sergt. JM Alpine, 30th of August 1861. The overall condition of the gun is excellent, with only minor dings in the wood. It has a long range tang sight mounted on the stock and also the elevated rear sight. The lock is marked Crown over W. Greener. The barrel is marked William Greener 1860, Inventor of the Expansive Bullet. The rifle also has a bayonet lug and a beautiful English suede sling. William Greener was the father of W.W. Greener of shotgun fame!
